Fun at Bretz's Wildlife Lodge and Winery!
If you like outstanding bar-b-que, good wine and music, you have to check out "Bretz's Wildlife Lounge and Winery which just opened in Carlyle, Illinois. The Wudman has to give "Doc" credit for opening a fantastic place for Carlyle visitors and locals to sate their hunger, thirst and entertainment needs.
I need to get straight to the point about the food here! "Wild Bill", the "Chef de Bar-B-Q" is special and I don't mean as in "short bus special". His food is fantastic! Bill starts with a handcrafted sauces, adds premium meats that are slow cooked for up to 14 hours in state-of-the-art smokers and then creates mouth watering sides for a special dining experience! Speaking of his sides, I cannot ever recall tasting better beans than the ones you can get at Bretz's Wildlife Lodge and Winery. They are a meal unto themselves!
The decor is pretty special at the Wildlife Lodge and Winery as well. "Doc", the genius who conceived and delivered Clinton County Illinois' newest eatery, has been to Africa on safari 9 times. His treasures can be found throughout the venue for your viewing pleasure. You can get up and close to Africa a few miles north of downtown Carlyle, IL!
Did I mention fine wines as well? There are currently 8 varieties of wine available for your sipping pleasure. The wine tasting room is a nice place to stop and sample the first years product! Wrapped in cedar and barn wood, the ambiance is comfortably classy! Until the local vineyards are in place, Doc has rented specific Southern Illinois vineyards and processing facilities to grow, harvest, blend and bottle his fine wines!
You can also play a few rounds of miniature golf or work out your volleyball skills on the outdoor sand court. More is coming as well including a conference center, meeting rooms, banquet hall and softball fields! To get here, just go north on Rte 127, about 2 miles north of the center of Carlyle!
